Gogo has signed a sovereign-based communications lease worth in excess of US$15m to provide geostationary (GEO) satellite connectivity to an overseas government customer.
Gogo noted that for aircraft carrying government leaders, communications must remain continuously dependable and trustworthy no matter where they fly. According to Gogo, the GEO service will ensure global connectivity, even in areas where low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services are restricted.
“This renewal reflects the confidence built through years of reliable performance and responsive support,” said Christopher Moore, CEO of Gogo. “The connectivity gives this customer a proven high-performance GEO solution, backed by people who understand the demands of sovereign customers and are available around the clock.”
Gogo’s global support team monitors and assists customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in multiple languages. The company said it can send a specialist technician to the aircraft within 24 hours if required.
Gogo said the customer’s decision also reflected the importance it places on cybersecurity and data privacy. The company provides continuous network monitoring and network protections, as well as cybersecurity training for operators and flight departments.
“At Gogo, our philosophy is to minimise data retention and collect only the information necessary to manage, deliver and support our services,” added Moore. “If information is not essential to delivering the service, it is not our business.”
