Ultrafabrics, a specialist in coated fabrics and alternative leathers, has added 10 new colours to its Tottori collection. Inspired by the windswept landscape of the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan, this collection is designed for a leather-like grain, matte finish and soft hand.
Tottori’s 10 new colours are intended to embody Japandi design, a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics that emphasises simplicity, functionality and a deep connection to nature. The new colours are called Amber Gold, Burnt Ochre, Coral Reef, Drizzle, Faded Purple, Fig Jam, Bali Bliss, Hazy Sky, Natural Bark, and Wild Truffle.
“We are thrilled to unveil the refresh of our Tottori collection, which pays homage to the breathtaking beauty of the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan,” said Barry Silverman, VP of marketing and branding at Ultrafabrics. “The new colours not only celebrate the natural serenity that Japandi design embodies, but they also represent our commitment to innovation and sustainability. Our Tottori line continues to blend aesthetic appeal with high performance, offering versatile options for various environments. We believe these timeless hues will elevate any project and resonate with designers and consumers alike.”
Designed for both aesthetic appeal and high performance, Ultrafabrics’ sustainability-focused alternative leathers are intended for applications ranging from seating in aviation and automotive interiors to furniture and wall coverings in healthcare, workplace, hospitality and residential environments. Crafted using Ultrafabrics’ proprietary Takumi Technology, the material is designed to deliver a soft-touch feel, a stylish colour palette, and durability.
The company said that supporting its goal to include at least 50% rapidly renewable and/or recycled materials within its portfolio, its sustainability-focused alternative leathers are bleach-cleanable (1:5 bleach/water solution) and do not contain any Red List chemicals, PFAS, PVC, plasticisers, or intentionally added formaldehyde. The Tottori collection is SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certified, REACH compliant, and meets Health Care Without Harm’s Healthy Interiors Criteria V2.3. The collection is designed to offer durability, with 400,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek), and 200,000 rubs (Martindale), along with a reinforced backcloth made of recycled polyester and 100% FSC/PEFC Certified Rayon. The company added that it features “superior hydrolysis resistance for 16 weeks”. Each linear yard of Tottori contains approximately eight recycled plastic water bottles.
