Gore introduces aerospace fiber optic cables

W L Gore & Associates has introduced Gore aerospace fiber optic cables, which are designed to meet the civil aerospace industry’s need for reliable high-speed data transmission cables in a durable, lightweight construction. “Our customers value a fiber product that can survive the rigors of installation,” said Jeremy Moore, application engineer at W L Gore & Associates.

The fiber optic cables are engineered with a dual-buffering system designed to withstand the challenging environments they encounter. The cables are designed: to deliver excellent signal integrity for high-speed data transmission in wide temperature ranges; to be highly flexible with a tight bend radius for easy routing in confined spaces of an aircraft; and to resist crushing, kinking and abrasion.

Typical applications include avionics networks, digital video systems, cabin management systems, flight management systems, Ethernet backbones, transceivers, weather radar systems and IFEC systems.
