Duncan Aviation has completed simultaneous 144-month inspections on two Gulfstream G650 aircraft at its facilities in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Battle Creek, Michigan.
The 144-month inspection is one of the most extensive maintenance events in an aircraft’s lifecycle, involving the removal of all exterior access panels, the complete interior and the landing gear to give technicians full access to inspect the aircraft from nose to tail. Operators frequently use the resulting downtime to carry out interior refurbishments, exterior paint and cabin enhancements.
All three of Duncan Aviation’s MRO facilities – Battle Creek, Lincoln and Provo – are equipped to support the G650, with specialised tooling, hangar space and dedicated Gulfstream teams. Technicians at each site are factory-trained at FlightSafety and have hands-on experience performing the inspections.
Matthew Benns, director of maintenance, was on site in Provo during the 144-month inspection of his G650 and is already planning the next maintenance input with another G650.
“The level of client interaction was excellent—among the best I have seen at any MRO. I felt that my priorities as a client were genuinely listened to and understood. We were able to have open and honest discussions, with consistent focus on maintaining safety and ensuring the principal’s expectations were met,” says Benns.
Lee Noble, accountable manager of Sybajet and a long-standing Duncan Aviation customer, combined an exterior paint project with the inspection to reduce aircraft downtime.
“We had some work on an exterior paint project and we needed to come back to Duncan Aviation for that. Rather than make the trip from the United Arab Emirates twice and have the aircraft down longer than necessary, we decided to perform the inspection here (in Lincoln) at the same time,” says Noble. “I love Duncan Aviation, and I’ve been to all three of the MRO facilities for paint, interior refurb, warranty work, and now the 144-month inspection. I’ll openly push for people to bring their aircraft to Duncan Aviation. The company has the technical expertise, does high-quality work, and is typically on schedule and on budget.”
All three Duncan Aviation MRO facilities have completed G650 interior refurbishments, with Lincoln and Provo also delivering new paint schemes. On-site design centres provide guidance from professional designers who work with clients on custom interiors and exterior finishes.
