ATG announces new window shades

An aerLuxe window shade

Aerospace Technologies Group (ATG) has announced the aerLuxe family of window shades, which will be on display at AIX 2025 on 8-10 April in Hamburg, Germany. The cabin shading solution is offered for applications in VIP aircraft as well as first-class suites on commercial airline aircraft.

The aerLuxe shade provides a single “picture” window blind comprised of both light filtering (translucent) and cabin darkening (opaque) modes. With the press of a single button multiple windows disappear, replaced by a fabric wall covering designed to blend with the surrounding interior.

ATG said aerLuxe is designed to be especially quiet and smooth in operation. The foundation of aerLuxe is based on ATG’s Modular Series of window shades, which the company said has been elevated to a new level of performance through its Next Gen advance electronic control system.

ATG’s NextGen electronic controls provide IoT functionality and connectivity to onboard maintenance and cabin management systems, enabling the transfer of performance metrics, remote diagnostics and programming updates without removing the shade from the aircraft. The electronic controls feature self-learning algorithms and sensor-less control, which ATG said was implemented to extend shade life and provide the quietest operation.

With the optional ShadePT feature, aerLuxe shades come equipped with a preventive maintenance function intended to extend the life of the fabric shade by refreshing it to original shape. ShapePT performs without requiring shade removal and can be activated by cabin crew, eliminating a maintenance ticket.

The company plans to introduce models of aerLuxe for the range of commercial aircraft commissioned for VIP applications and will replace its MS2 and MS3 products.

Today ATG electric window shades can be found on small-, mid-, and large-cabin business jets as well as Boeing 777-300ER, A380, and A350 aircraft in the premium-class seating areas of certain airlines. ATG’s aerBlade window shade is featured throughout the Emirates A350, including in economy class.
