True Blue Power introduced new modular TC800 Series AC-to-DC converters and emergency battery power supplies (EBPS) at the 69th Annual AEA International Convention and Trade Show (held in Dallas, Texas, on 23-26 March).
The TC800 converters are designed for business and commercial aircraft, VIP cabin configurations and special-missions applications. The units convert three-phase 115 VAC (360-800Hz) into a 28VDC output for IFE systems, USB chargers, avionics and other equipment.
The TC800 Series AC-to-DC converters are available in four configurations across two power ratings. The 800W variants comprise the PN 6430800-10, weighing 3.8 lb (1.72kg) and measuring 7.8in x 7.4in x 2.0in, and the PN 6430800-11 with hold-up module, weighing 6.5 lb (2.95kg) and measuring 7.9in x 7.7in x 3.3in. The 1,200W variants are the PN 6430800-20, with brushless fan, weighing 3.9 lb (1.77kg) and measuring 8.8in x 7.4in x 2.0in, and the PN 6430800-21, with brushless fan and hold-up module, weighing 6.6 lb (3.0kg) and measuring 8.9in x 7.7in x 3.3in.
When equipped with the TC800 Series hold-up module, the units provide continuous power during input voltage dropouts of up to 300 milliseconds.
New emergency battery power supplies

Meanwhile the two new EBPS products are the TS32 Series (32 watt-hour) and the TS56 (56 watt-hour). Both units provide DC power for emergency lighting and critical equipment in the event of main aircraft power failure.
Engineered with nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery technology, the company said both new EBPSs “eliminate the memory effect associated with traditional nickel-cadmium (NiCad) units”, reducing maintenance requirements.
The EBPS units use aircraft power to recharge and maintain a full battery charge. Capacity checks are required only every two years. Battery packs can be replaced in the field using a single thumb screw.
Both the TS32 Series and the TS56 are certified to TSO-C173a, RTCA DO-293A and RTCA DO-160G. STC approval is pending.

True Blue Power EBPS units are designed as direct replacements for legacy NiCad batteries on a range of business and commercial aircraft. The TS32 Series serves as a direct replacement for the Radiant RPS1-A/B, Bruce Industries 100865 and Collins/Page D717-01-100, with applications on Embraer ERJ, Bombardier Challenger 300 and 350, Bombardier CRJ Series, Boeing 737 and Airbus A310 aircraft. The TS56 replaces the Radiant 7450LS-00, with applications on the Embraer Phenom 300, Praetor 500 and Praetor 600.
