AMAC develops Ka-band antenna STC for A330

The in-house engineering department at AMAC Aerospace has developed an STC to enable the installation of a Ka-band antenna on a VIP A330-200 during a base maintenance check. The antenna is part of Honeywell’s Jetwave Ka-band satcom, delivering broadband internet service. AMAC also made some modifications to the cabin.

“This STC has been developed as multiple STC so that it can be installed on other A330 aircraft to meet the increasing demand for high speed connectivity on board large VIP aircraft,” said Gunnar Jancke, director of the design organization and quality assurance at AMAC.

Other recent deliveries by AMAC include an ACJ 318 Elite on which AMAC performed a C check on behalf of a European commercial operator; an A340-300 in for heavy base maintenance for a first-time customer, a commercial VIP operator based in Europe; and a privately owned A319 in for a C check, landing gear overhaul and EFB installation.

AMAC also signed a maintenance contract that will see a privately owned BBJ737-700 enter its facility in the third quarter of 2017 for a C check, landing gear overhaul, cabin works and IFE upgrade.
