AMAC Aerospace Switzerland has signed a contract with the Turkish airport authorities to acquire 6,400m² of land at Milas Bodrum Airport in Turkey. The move enables the construction of a 4,000m² hangar that could accommodate either two A321s, wing tip to wing tip, or two B737-800 NGs.

AMAC will offer line and base maintenance services for corporate and commercial customers at the facility. It will support A318, A319, A320, A321, B737-300, B737-400, B737-500, B737-600, B737-700 and B737-800 aircraft, as well as the Dassault Falcon 2000 and Dassault Falcon 900 series and the Pilatus PC 12.

“AMAC Aerospace has gauged the market to make this exciting venture come to reality and further enhance AMAC’s presence in the Turkish region to stimulate options for our esteemed clientele in the Middle East region,” said Kadri Muhiddin, group executive chairman and chief executive officer at AMAC Aerospace.

The hangar is scheduled to be handed to AMAC Aerospace in November 2016. The first customer will be Tailwind Airlines, for which AMAC will perform seven C checks on B737-400s and B737-800s aircraft.

AMAC Aerospace also reported a successful visit to ABACE 2016, held in Shanghai, China, on April 12-14, 2016. It was the first time AMAC took part in an Asian exhibition. “We were able to forge links with potential clients and had a very positive feedback,” said Bernd Schramm, group chief operating officer at AMAC Aerospace Switzerland. “AMAC is now looking forward to acquiring more prospective customers from Asia in the near future.”
