Vision Systems selected as finalist for APEX award

Vision Systems has been announced as one of four finalists for The Best Achievement in Technology APEX Award. Vision Systems entered the competition with the latest addition to its range of electronically dimmable windows (EDWs), a touchless-controlled dimmable window, Nuance Touchless. Based on suspended particle device (SPD) technology, Vision Systems’ EDWs dim instantly and gradually from clear to dark. They can be controlled from a touch panel on the window, a centralized control panel, a wireless tablet or automatically with integrated light sensors.

The main characteristic of Nuance Touchless is that passengers can dim it just by placing a hand near the window. By moving their hand up or down, the passenger can adjust the position of the solar protection, like a Venetian shade, and by moving their hand sideways, they can set the level of opacity. The aim, within a couple of years, is to enable the aisle-side passenger to control the window from their seat without disturbing the passenger in the window seat.
