Customer-focused additions to SD’s executive team

Two former clients of connectivity provider SD have joined the company’s senior executive team. Keith Shelburn (right) is now the company’s vice president of aviation, which involves managing its flight department, also the testbed for all SD’s new SD products and services. Meanwhile, John Kummer (below, left) is now vice president of strategy and programs.

Both previously worked as directors of aviation for Fortune 100 companies. “Keith and John’s first-hand knowledge of the demands faced by today’s flight departments provides invaluable insight that will help SD keep its products and services responsive and relevant,” said Jim Jensen, CEO and founder of SD. “Their aviation and management skills will be used to help SD stay focused on the needs of its customers.”

Kummer has 23 years of corporate flight department experience. He joins from 3M, where he was director of aviation, training and chief pilot. He has also been on the Gulfstream, GoGo and Jeppesen customer advisory boards, has a business management degree from the University of Minnesota, and served with the USAF/Minnesota Air Guard.

Shelburn’s most recent role was aviation director at DuPont. His qualifications include a bachelor of science degree in aviation from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, an aviation safety certificate from the University of Southern California, SD’s aeroIT certificate, and FAA qualifications as an airline transport pilot and certified flight instructor. He founded the Aviation Safety Roundtable in 1992 and has participated on the FSF Corporate Advisory Board.
