Alto Aviation has expanded its line of custom audio and entertainment solutions for business aviation by introducing an aircraft conference table microphone system. The company recently completed the installation and custom-tune of a VIP aircraft conference table microphone system as part of a cabin audio upgrade on a Boeing 747 aircraft in Beijing, China.
The requirement was to enable a group of people to converse comfortably around a large, nine-seat conference table, which the company says was impossible without its system, because of the cabin noise. Alto Aviation audio systems engineers designed a complete microphone system including 11 microphones with custom gold-plated table connections, overhead loudspeakers, a gold-plated control panel and an amplifier mounted under the table.
“Getting the system perfectly tuned and balanced such that every participant could be heard loud and clear without any noise or feedback was a real challenge,” said Steve Scarlata, vice president of engineering and research and development at Alto Aviation. “We implemented some very complex signal processing which brought focus to the person talking while filtering out the ambient noise from all the microphones. As a result the participants can hold a meeting comfortably hearing everyone without having to shout or strain.”
