Satcom Direct to distribute Astronics AeroSat connectivity system

A new agreement will see Astronics AeroSat’s FliteStream T-Series tail-mount connectivity system sold through the Satcom Direct (SD) global dealer network. Using Panasonic Avionics’ global communications network, the system enables business jet passengers to watch live TV and access the internet at the same time, through a single antenna.

The companies say using a single antenna saves weight and improves efficiency. Meanwhile, Astronics AeroSat’s Rexolite lens technology means a signal blocking feed horn is not needed. The system includes the Ku-band system components needed to use the Panasonic Avionics network. The solution enables passengers to watch TV via an app and access the internet on their PEDs, or through bulkhead monitors.

“Astronics AeroSat’s best-in-class hardware, partnered with our SD dealer network, allows for a rapid market deployment on a global scale,” said Chris Moore, chief commercial officer at SD. “By incorporating the Astronics AeroSat solution with our existing robust suite of products and services, we are creating a one-stop shop for hardware and value-added services.”
