ACJ and Latécoère developing a monitor with li-fi

Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) and Latécoère Interconnection Systems are co-developing an IFE monitor using light fidelity (li-fi), for use in corporate aircraft.

The latest wireless communication technology, li-fi uses light to transmit data. The development is called the ACJ Smart LiFi Monitor, and the two companies have signed a partnership agreement for the cooperation.

The ACJ Smart LiFi Monitor will offer a unique entertainment experience and is designed to be an easy plug-and-play solution. It is a multi-technology smart 4K monitor offering wi-fi, Bluetooth and li-fi connectivity. It will allow analogue audio output, USBc ports as well as HDMI connections. Features include AVOD, casting, mirroring, web browser, live TV and integrated video conferencing.

ACJ is developing the ACJ Smart LiFi Monitor to make customers’ cabin experience unique and easily upscalable, and to offer the same features as they have at home. The company said the new technology will be available for retrofit and cabin outfitting before the end of 2021.
