EASA STC for EAD Aerospace’s SUMS will bring Ka-band to VIP A330

EAD Aerospace has expanded its haul of EASA STCs for the Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) to the A330 platform. SUMS enables the installation of Honeywell’s JetWave fuselage-mounted antenna (MCS-8200) for Ka-band satcom. The latest STC will be used on a VIP A330 project with a European MRO, for the benefit of a final customer based in the Middle East.

The STC was issued following flight tests conducted in December 2016. EAD Aerospace gained a similar STC for the A320 in 2016, a certification that also applies to A321 aircraft. The company is also targeting STCs for A340 and B777 series aircraft.

The connectivity system interfaces with the aircraft’s local area network.
