Heads Up Technologies, manufacturer of lighting, CMS and flight deck safety products, has acquired STG Aerospace, a company known for its aircraft cabin lighting technologies, with bases in Cwmbran, UK, and Miami, Florida.

Established in the UK in 1995 with the vision of making flying safer and more cost-effective, STG Aerospace created photoluminescent emergency guidance systems for aircraft, and in 2011 the LED mood lighting system liTeMood. Today the company is well known in the commercial aviation market for its photoluminescent floor path marking system, Saf-T-Glo.

“We are thrilled to welcome the STG Aerospace team to Heads Up Technologies to leverage our collective lighting solutions to meet critical OEM and operator needs across the entire aviation market,” said Robert Harshaw, president and CEO, Heads Up Technologies. “STG Aerospace’s concept-to-certification capability and extensive intellectual property are excellent complements to Heads Up Technologies’ portfolio of lighting innovations.”

“Designing high-quality emergency and cabin lighting components and systems that utilise our deep expertise and proprietary technology to create innovative solutions is our goal,” said Grant Bennett, CEO, STG Aerospace. “Combining the expertise and products of both Heads Up Technologies and STG Aerospace makes an exciting solution set.”

This is the first acquisition by Heads Up Technologies since partnering with JLL Partners in 2019. Texas-based Heads Up designs, engineers and manufactures proprietary cockpit, cabin and aircraft electrical components and systems for the business and commercial aviation markets.
