Qi wireless power charging and a 5.5in full HD Super Active-Matrix OLED (AMOLED) screen are two of the highlights of Astronics PGA Avionics’ new Smart Wireless Handset, which can be used to control IFE, telephone and cabin functions on VVIP aircraft. A qualified airborne router application suite is integrated into the server to provide connectivity. As part of the Carat Senses system, the router works with all antenna technologies – including Ka-band, Ku-band and SwiftBroadBand types.

Astronics PGA also has a new range of in-seat Passenger Control Units (PCUs – pictured above), which come in a variety of shapes and finishes and feature power supply outlets, multimedia plugs, audio plugs and switches.

New lighting products from the company include the Mila personal reading light (pictured above), which should be available early in 2018. Passengers touch the center of the light to illuminate it, and can adjust the angle. Mila also produces a mood lighting effect. Meanwhile, the Philea light (pictured below), meant for premium economy seats, features a directional beam that dims via head capacitive control, as well as an embedded USB charging port.

The company also has a new Slim Linear Actuator that moves a load up to 100 daN, enabling components including headrests, footrests, armrests, privacy dividers, pop-up monitors and doors to move. The actuator has a profile of less than 1in, and weighs less than 1.7 lb.

Finally, Astronics PGA has a new maintenance and configuration suite for tablets and laptops – the Carat Tools Easy Monitoring Solution – that provides complete control over the actuation system.
