Liebherr-Aerospace invests in India

Citing an expectation that India will become a major aerospace market, both for aircraft manufacturing and operation, Liebherr-Aerospace has opened an office in Bangalore in the south of the country. As well as liaising with aircraft operators and Indian suppliers, the facility will coordinate projects with Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg in Germany and Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse in France.

The company plans to further develop its supply chain in India, where it already purchases gearboxes and engineering services; and is discussing possible knowledge-transfer partnerships with Indian companies to enable the manufacture of parts in India.

Liebherr-Aerospace will also propose products for Indian airframers’ programs. It already supplies and services parts for HAL including heating and ventilation system components for the ALH helicopter, the cabin pressure control system for the Jaguar, and the flap actuation system as well as landing gear actuators and the nose wheel steering system for the Do 228.

The company’s solutions for Indian operators of foreign-built aircraft include field service support, repair services and spare part availability, while partner company OEMServices offers customized nose-to-tail services.
