On March 13, 2017, Satair Group opened a second unit to its centralized aftermarket Airbus kitting center in Hamburg, Germany, adding 5,300m² of warehousing and enabling it to double its deliveries to 110,000 kits a year in 2017.

The site is nearby to the Airbus Operations Germany site in Hamburg. The first unit will retain the main working and kitting areas, with material being moved to the second unit. This new unit features a hazardous material area for storing cabin upgrade monuments – which can include lavatories, galleys, large ottomans and seats, partitions and bar units –  and upcoming retrofits for the A380 and A350 programs. It also enables standard hardware stock to be consolidated under a single roof.

“The Satair Group Kit Factory is the centralized worldwide kitting center for the Airbus and Satair Group aftersales business,” said Tim Bothe, vice president of supply chain at Satair Group. “Technologies like mobile data terminals, vertical storage machines and a packaging machine are already planned and we are analyzing new methods to automate the physical kitting process.”
