EHang is to build a new production facility for autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) in Yunfu, Guangdong, China. The RMB42m (US$6m) investment is supported by the local government. The plan is for the site to have the capacity to build 600 units a year. It will include an R&D facility and a training centre.

The Deputy Mayor of Yunfu city, Donghong Shi, attended the launch ceremony. The facility is expected to be beneficial to the local high-tech communities and create hundreds of new jobs for local talent.

“The increasing market demands and commercialisation of AAVs in China are driving us to expand our production and upgrade our manufacturing capabilities,” said Huazhi Hu, founder, chairman and CEO of EHang. “The EHang Yunfu facility serves as an expansion of our existing facility and will support the growth of our air mobility business in China.”
