Starling Aerospace has updated its VIP Track and Swivel Seat to make it lighter, more agile and have a smoother gliding and locking action. The next-generation seat was showcased at Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME), held in Dubai, UAE, on February 11-12, 2019.

The upgraded seat tracks sideways, forward and backward, and has a new electric headrest, recline and leg rest. It can turn 359°, allowing passengers to interact with others without getting up, and has been designed to lie flat at 179°and accommodate passengers over 6ft in height. Starling Aerospace says the product is certified for 9G and 16G.

When it comes to styling and upholstery, customers are now being offered even more options than before. Starling Aerospace carries EASA approvals for design (UK21J.538), manufacturing (UK21G.2581), and repair and overhaul (UK145.01249). It says its in-house manufacturing capabilities enable greater design flexibility and fast turnaround.

Starling Aerospace also promoted some new equipment at the show, including a “super large” aqua transfer tank which enables large aircraft interior components to be covered in one dip; a four-axis machining center for aluminum seating components; a five-axis CNC router for 3D composite structures; and a Gerber automated CNC leather and fabric cutter.
