Lufthansa Technik unveiled a modular narrowbody VIP cabin concept called The Bow at this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany. Developed in exclusive collaboration with Designworks, a BMW Group company, the concept is designed for shared group travel – targeting corporate boards, professional sports teams and touring artists rather than the single VIP passenger.
The modular concept enables early and individualised customer involvement whereby layout, suite arrangements, colour environments and functional zones can all be reconfigured to match an operator’s mission profile. For example, they can opt for fewer suites in favour of more open social areas, choose a larger bar, or prioritise privacy for board meetings. The design accommodates up to 28 passengers.

The cabin is organised into several signature zones. The reception and lobby area sets the tone with curved architectural forms, premium materials, integrated technology and a hospitality-focused bar environment. It also features transforming elements such as a gradient screen and a foldable interactive service table.
The central transformative lounge incorporates two multifunctional curved touchscreen displays and a large presentation table that splits into four individual segments, allowing the space to shift between collaborative working, coaching sessions and fine dining. The table incorporates Lufthansa Technik’s Hidden Touch technology, which allows passengers to operate cabin functions through a touch panel that completely disappears into the interior surface when not in use.

The private Bow Suites accommodate one or two passengers each and can be used for private meetings or shared dining. The Bow Suite design theme is characterised by arcs, soft shapes, progressive forms, and premium materials, while integrating Lufthansa Technik technologies discreetly into the furniture. They feature acoustic shields, mood lighting and scent options. Dedicated personal storage in each suite provides space for items such as musical instruments or professional equipment. Optional movable partitions allow individual suites to be closed for privacy or opened for social interaction. Selected compartments include automated sections that can be raised or lowered to adjust privacy levels.
Lufthansa Technik’s ‘nice’ (network integrated cabin equipment) system is integrated throughout the cabin. Hidden Touch displays, inductive charging modules, curved OLED screens, next-generation remote-control solutions and special lighting effects are harmonised into the interior architecture. The ‘nice intellitable’ blends high-definition touchscreen functionality into the surface of a folding tray table. Lufthansa Technik’s Omni-Fi speakers deliver immersive, omnidirectional sound dispersion while offering an “ultra-slim” form factor enabled by Ringmode Converter/Transducer technology. The nice CMS enables control lighting, climate, seating and multimedia functions through a modular interface.
“With The Bow, we are elevating group-centric VIP travel to a completely new level,” said Fabian Nagel, VP of sales, VIP & Special Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik. “This concept offers customers unprecedented flexibility and allows operators to tailor every mission with an experience that is both highly functional and luxurious. The Bow also creates a unique opportunity to experience the full suite of our products directly interfacing with the VIPs in one coherent environment.”
