Concept revealed for flexible aircraft cabin

0

On 28 January 2020, Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, was the setting for the presentation of the Flexcraft project. Developed by Almadesign, INEGI, IST, SET SA and Embraer Portugal, the modular aircraft concept has a cabin that could be reconfigured for various missions, from passenger and cargo transport to civil protection activities, surveillance and agriculture.

The concept was demonstrated with a full-scale mock-up fuselage including an interior with detailed trim finishes and lighting. The mock-up showed a five-seat taxi configuration, while visitors could also use virtual reality to sit in an executive cabin or a search and rescue interior.

The project was financed by Portugal 2020, under the Competitiveness and Internationalisation operational programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
