TrueNorth Avionics plans to offer a personalized entertainment application on its Optelity Pro cabin communications platform. Optelity Experience (OE) features the UGO inflight services platform developed by Display Interactive. “OE will go beyond movies and magazines to include curated content and what we refer to as exclusive experiences,” said Mark van Berkel, CEO at TrueNorth.
OE, powered by the UGO service platform, has been tailored for business jets. It will allow people to view a variety of entertainment options on their tablets without using satellite bandwidth because the content is delivered at the gate using the Optelity system’s LTE network. Purchasers of the Optelity Pro Cabin Gateway can also purchase OE, which will offer movies, short videos, corporate content, moving maps and magazines. TrueNorth says exclusive content that is not available on the internet will be an important differentiator for the OE app. Users will be able to customize the content. A concierge service is also included, which enables passengers to enjoy “exclusive lifestyle experiences”, according to TrueNorth. For example, passengers can use the application to set up a special event, such as a personal shopping tour or a tennis lesson with a professional. Experiences vary by destination and they may be one-offs.
