GDC Technics of Fort Worth, Texas, has gained STC approval to install a media server and three cabin wireless access points – the basis for a new wireless IFEC system – on a VIP aircraft. The approval came following successful flight tests.

“This STC is a great success and accomplishment for all of GDC Technics,” said Brad Foreman, CEO at the company. “We are always pushing the boundaries of technology, and with this certification, GDC continues to prove its competency and proficiency in its new business model consisting of standalone services that include modifications, MRO services, technical services and electronic systems.”

The aircraft will be used as a demonstration platform to test a GDC Technics modification concept and explore technological systems that will demonstrate ultra-broadband connectivity to aircraft and wireless IFE systems. GDC Technics will continue to equip the aircraft with capabilities including high-end security and management features as well as a complete connectivity suite.
