Gogo chooses Kontron 2Ku Modman for connectivity system

Retrofit and linefit versions of Gogo’s 2Ku connectivity system will include Kontron’s next-generation Modem Manager (Modman) unit.

Based on the Taurus Ku-band modem from Gilat Satellite Networks, Modman utilizes technologies – including processor and Ethernet Switch building blocks – from Kontron’s ACE Flight server family. It will support simultaneous inflight internet connectivity and IPTV.

Kontron says Modman leverages the standard product features of its ACE Flight 4780 server and is compliant to the ARINC 791 standard, covering airborne Ku- and Ka-Band satcom systems. The company says the product can be adapted easily to other installations and modem solutions.
