First European business aviation customer flies with Gogo’s 2Ku

K5-Aviation of Germany is the first business aviation customer in Europe to operate an aircraft (an ACJ319) equipped with Gogo’s 2Ku connectivity technology. The system is established in commercial aviation and is now available on larger private aircraft. Fokker Services managed the installation design and system integration, including the EASA STC, at its facility in Hoogerheide in the Netherlands.

“Having an EASA STC available for ACJs will greatly enhance our business, as well as Gogo’s,” said Johan van Dorst, director of sales for Fokker Services.

The dual antenna system was developed by Gogo to bring global streaming-capable internet to large aircraft. The technology benefits from global coverage and the redundancy of more than 180 satellites in the Ku-band. It will be compatible with newer high-throughput and low-earth orbit satellites when they become available.
