Honda Aircraft Company marked 20 years since its founding with a banner-signing event at its Greensboro, North Carolina headquarters. Since 2006, the company has delivered more than 275 HondaJets and now builds the HondaJet Elite II, while developing the larger HondaJet Echelon at its Piedmont Triad International Airport campus.
Honda Aircraft Company associates marked 20 years since the company’s founding with a commemorative banner signing at its headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, on the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) campus.
Honda Aircraft was formally established in 2006 following the first flight of the HondaJet. The company has since delivered more than 275 aircraft worldwide and now produces the HondaJet Elite II at its Greensboro facility. Honda Aircraft is also continuing development of the HondaJet Echelon, a larger aircraft designed to become what the company says will be the first single-pilot certified, US transcontinental-range light jet.
According to Hideto Yamasaki, president and chief executive of Honda Aircraft Company, the company looks forward to “the next chapter of Honda skyward mobility,” adding that Honda associates and Piedmont Triad community partners “will continue to be the key to our success in shaping the future of flight.”
Honda Aircraft employs nearly 1,000 associates on its 133-acre Greensboro campus. Since its founding, the company says it has worked with local schools, universities and workforce development organisations on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach programmes.
North Carolina state senator Michael Garrett recognised the anniversary on the floor of the North Carolina Senate, saying: “In Guilford County, that legacy isn’t just history; it’s a living industry building the future of aviation right now.”
Milestones over the past two decades include Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certification and first customer delivery in 2015, two speed records in 2016, and the introduction of the HondaJet Elite II in 2022. In 2024, the HondaJet reached its 250th delivery. In 2026, the HondaJet became what the company describes as the first production twin-turbine very light business jet certified to equip Emergency Autoland (EAL), and Honda Aircraft introduced the HondaJet APMG S performance upgrade package.
