ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dassault Aviation, has held the grand opening of its new purpose-built MRO facility at Subang Airport in Malaysia.

With an area of 149,500ft², the facility is Malaysia’s largest business aviation MRO centre. It is more than twice the size of ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia’s previous operation (opened in 2009) and serves business jet operators from across Asia.

“Today’s opening marks a pivotal moment for ExecuJet MRO Services’ presence in the region,” said Graeme Duckworth, president of ExecuJet MRO Services Group. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Malaysian Government, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Dassault Aviation for their unwavering support for this expansion project. Without their assistance, we wouldn’t be here.”

“We are expanding support for operators of multiple aircraft brands across the region,” Duckworth added. “The Subang facility is key to that strategy.”

ExecuJet MRO Services Group started in South Africa in 1991 and then expanded internationally. Besides Malaysia and South Africa, it also has MRO facilities in Australia, New Zealand, UAE and Belgium, as well as a franchise in China.

ExecuJet MRO Services invests in training its personnel to be internationally certified, so it is approved to perform line and heavy maintenance on aircraft registered with regional civil aviation authorities together with FAA and EASA, whether on Falcons, Bombardier and Gulfstream aircraft. There is new training space at Subang to further these authorisations and grow the workforce. Ivan Lim, Execujet MRO Services’ regional VP, Asia, said the company expects to grow the Subang workforce from 84 to 100 by year end and to continue growing over the next five years.

Jean Kayanakis, senior VP worldwide Falcon customer service and service centre network at Dassault Aviation, added: “ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia is playing a major role in Falcon support in the Asian region and helps Dassault Aviation offer a uniformly high level of Falcon service worldwide.”

Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim bin Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), said: “The comprehensive MRO solutions provided by ExecuJet MRO Services will greatly enhance Malaysia’s stature as an ideal location for aerospace companies aiming to expand in this region. We are excited to witness the positive influence this facility will have on our aerospace ecosystem and remain committed to supporting ExecuJet in their expansion journey. It is, indeed, a force to be reckoned with.”

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad said: “The ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia facility is among several development projects under the Subang Airport Regeneration Plan (SARP) and represents a pivotal step forward in advancing the plan’s business aviation sector. Anchored on three key segments – aerospace, business aviation and city airport – one of the aims of SARP is to transform Subang Airport into a regional hub for business aviation.”
