Astronics AES’s CorePower – comprising an Induction Starter Generator System and Electronic Circuit Breaker Units (ECBUs) – has been certified by Pilatus Aircraft on the new PC-24.

The Induction Starter Generator System has a brushless design intended to reduce the need for maintenance, has a configurable starting capability and provides up to 400A of power at ground idle. “After more than 2,000 hours of flight testing, the new starter generator will improve aircraft dispatch reliability, particularly for those aircraft operators with high use, and provide significant long-term cost savings,” said Kellsey Justus, vice president of Astronics AES Airborne Power & Control.

The solid-state ECBUs – Astronics’ 1426 Series – provide a secondary power distribution system. Features of the system include fault detection, circuit protection and programmable load management through automated power control.

CorePower will also enable the PC-24 to use the Quiet Power Mode offered for its Williams FJ44 engines. This is designed to ensure quiet and efficient ground power without a traditional APU.
