Spirit Aeronautics of Columbus, Ohio, has modified two active-duty E-9A Widget aircraft for the US Air Force. The workscope included all programme management, engineering, kitting and major modifications including to communications systems.

Spirit Aeronautics previously modified these same aircraft almost a decade earlier, installing new cockpit technologies to enhance the aircraft’s safe operations.

At the project’s completion, the E-9A squadron commander commented to Rick Ochs, Spirit’s CEO: “Your professionalism, attention to detail and unwavering pursuit of delivering a top-notch product has been written all over this process. Thank you to all for your work, I speak for all the E-9 Widget folks when I express how excited we are to operate with our new radio system. Widget has you loud and clear!”
