Pentastar Aviation gains STC for wi-fi compatibility on GIV-X aircraft

The latest FAA STC earned by Pentastar Aviation enables the use of transmitting portable electronic devices (TPEDs) on Gulfstream GIV-X (G350/G450) series aircraft with wireless networks or wi-fi hot spots.

The company already has similar STCs covering the G-IV, GV, GV-SP (G500/G550), Hawker 800XP and Hawker 850XP platforms. It means passengers can email, talk, text and conduct video conferences using their TPEDs, without interference to safety-critical systems on board.

“Our clients increasingly expect the same level of connectivity in flight as they experience on the ground,” said Jesse Beard, avionics and engineering manager at Pentastar Aviation. “Pentastar Aviation is committed to delivering solutions that provide them a true office-in-the-sky environment enabling them to stay connected at all times.”
