Kestrel to manage a second BBJ 787

Kestrel Aviation Management has secured the right to manage a new BBJ 787-8 on behalf of a European investor. The business was secured based on Kestrel’s previous role of purchasing, co-designing, modifying and selling the world’s first BBJ 787 on behalf of another investor. The cabin, unveiled by Kestrel at EBACE 2016, continues to receive accolades from the media, including Crystal Cabin Award shortlisting.

The aircraft will enter production at Boeing in 2017 and will be ready for delivery in January 2019. This 787 – with standard BBJ specification and the ability to fly non-stop between any two points in the world – is available immediately for sale ‘as is’, or with a technical assistance package offered by Kestrel’s affiliate, Camber Aviation Management, which includes Boeing production oversight, cabin design, cabin specification development, modification management and entry into service assistance, including all associated contractual negotiations.

“The timing is perfect; this is a unique opportunity for a buyer to secure a bespoke BBJ 787-8 in the shortest possible time,” said Stephen Vella, chief executive at Kestrel. “We can replicate the cabin of our first BBJ 787, for which we manage the intellectual property rights, or develop another cabin solution from scratch with minimum risk.”

Kestrel says the 787 could be ready for service as soon as December 2019.
