EASA has awarded an STC enabling the installation of EAD Aerospace’s Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) on a B777. EAD Aerospace developed the solution with Inmarsat, creating the engineering package and obtaining the STC within a tight timeframe for customer Qatar Airways.
“This ARINC 791 installation is light in weight with minimal intrusions into the fuselage, making it easy to install and maintain for airlines,” said Marc Pinault, CEO of EAD Aerospace. “SUMS is a natural fit for such a retrofit project.”
The first installations are already complete; the solution can be added during a scheduled maintenance visit. It provides access to Inmarsat’s Ka-band GX Aviation service.
