Gulfstream delivers 500th G550

Gulfstream has delivered its 500th G550. The aircraft was delivered to Abbott, which has its headquarters in Abbott Park, Illinois, USA.

“Gulfstream has been a long-standing supplier of our aviation needs,” said Steven Hawkins, director of aviation for Abbott. “We congratulate them for attaining this milestone.”

The G550 can carry eight passengers and four crew for 6,750 nautical miles. The cabin can be configured with three or four seating areas and can accommodate up to 18 passengers. The aircraft was announced on October 9, 2000, and rolled-out on August 8, 2001. It received FAA certification in August 2003 and entered service in September 2003. The G550 received validation from EASA in March 2004.
