FDS Avionics unveils converter for connecting carry-on devices to IFE

0

A new hardware video converter is available for FDS Avionics’ Edge Series displays, designed to enable auxiliary input and carry-on devices to be connected to the IFE system. The Penta Converter can be used to connect HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA and composite video sources, delivering an HD SDI signal. This enables passengers to plug in carry-on equipment including gaming systems, laptops, cameras, smart devices, projectors and HD equipment.

The converter is operated via CMS, switch buttons or wirelessly if the do Capsule is installed. Signals can be carried to individual screens and headsets, as well as to audio and video switching equipment.

The converter was created to operate in aircraft at 28V DC. There are three independent converter/scaler inputs on the front of the device, and one SDI (pass through) input on the rear. LED indicators show which input is selected.
