Challengers undergoing Gogo L3 Avance installations at Flying Colours Corp

Gogo’s Avance L3 air-to-ground connectivity system is being installed on a Bombardier Challenger 604 and a Challenger 605 by Flying Colours Corp. These are the first such installations for Flying Colours, although the completion center has installed several Avance L5 systems.

“As the privately owned aircraft operate predominantly across North America we advised our clients that the Gogo Avance L3 system will fulfil the flexibility, reliability and meaningful data speeds needed by them,” said Kevin Kliethermes, director of sales for Flying Colours.

“The solution is proving popular on mid-size aircraft with missions based mainly in North America. We have more Avance installations confirmed and expect the trend to continue as the ever-increasing demand for feature-rich, high-speed data access at affordable prices continues.”

Each of the Gogo Avance L3 installations forms part of a wider workscope. The first Challenger 604 is undergoing an interior refurbishment of all soft goods, cabinetry and avionics at the Flying Colours’ headquarters in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

The Challenger 605 is undergoing a complete gear overhaul, a scheduled 96-month inspection, full external paintwork and an upgrade to Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line 21 Advanced flight deck system at Flying Colours’ facility in St Louis, Missouri. Both aircraft will undergo fuselage paintwork revamps in Peterborough.

“Underlined by our status as a Bombardier Aerospace ASF, we have the ability to complete a wide variety of interior and exterior enhancements, as well as maintenance and avionics upgrades on Bombardier aircraft,” said Kliethermes.

“It means we can ensure owners maximize budget and aircraft downtime by completing a number of different projects in parallel.” Work on both aircraft is expected to complete in late summer 2018.

The Gogo Avance L3 system will provide passengers with access to the Gogo Biz broadband network and will support, dependent on package, access to voice, email, web browsing, moving maps and a selection of movies and TV programs.
