Dassault Falcon 7X BMW interior wins design award
Dassault Falcon and BMW Group DesignworksUSA were recently awarded the 2009 good design award by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design, for their collaboration on the new Falcon 7X interior option.
According to the Chicago Athenaeum, “BMW Group Designworks USA’s interior for the Dassault Falcon 7X offers defining features, including uncompromising cabin comfort for temperature monitoring, thermal controls and custom-crafted interior furnishings.” Introduced at European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in May 2009, the new interior will be available for deliveries from the third quarter of 2011.
The new Falcon 7X cabin option introduces subtle curves throughout the interior. A single arc carpet element visually stretches the cabin and connects the interior front to back. Curved bulkheads visually expand the main cabin volume while subtle curves in the galley and main cabin create better flow. Cabin lighting techniques feature up-wash and down-wash ambient lights as well as light strips. The combination of new lighting and more contrast between the carpet, the sidewalls and headliners emphasises openness, spaciousness and comfort. The final result is an elegant and styled cabin fused with function.
Special attention was given to enhancing cabin comfort on the Falcon 7X for flights lasting up to 13 hours. The 7X cabin features 28 windows, which are 10% larger than previous Falcons. It also features an advanced temperature control system that maintains the environment to within 1° throughout the entire cabin.
