Simphone OpenCabin chosen for Falcon EASy installation
TrueNorth’s Simphone OpenCabin airborne telecommunications system has been selected for retrofit on its first Falcon 900EASy executive aircraft. The corporate operator sent the newly delivered aircraft to the Dassault Service Center in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, for the telecom upgrade.
The Simphone (pronounced ‘symphony’) OpenCabin system uses a suite of enterprise-level software applications (‘apps’) to deliver voice and data-management capabilities. TrueNorth says its software-centric solution interfaces with virtually any corporate aircraft, turning it into an extension of the company’s IT and communications networks. A wide variety of custom functions can be added simply by uploading software.
“We’ve heard that operators of these high-end aircraft are tired of noisy, poor-quality voice calls, where passengers complain about not being able to communicate clearly. They want to be heard ‘loud and clear’, and Simphone OpenCabin lets them do that, along with many other things,” said Mark van Berkel, president of TrueNorth.
The company also recently announced that it is experiencing a run of orders and installations for Simphone OpenCabin – including a series of initial installations at new completion centres – since securing its STC for the Bombardier Global Express. Customers range from a multinational financial services conglomerate, to an industrial construction firm, and include Bombardier itself for its corporate aircraft. New installers include Midcoast Aviation in Illinois, USA, Innotech Aviation and SkyService Aviation in Montreal, Canada, and Bombardier Aerospace in Tucson, Arizona, USA.
