Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is a leader in providing business aircraft passengers with in-seat power. The EmPower line of cabin power systems, with its patented power management technology, was first installed on commercial aircraft in 1996.
The EmPower In-Seat Power Supply System supports dual modes of power for up to seven seat locations. This is achieved with a new USB outlet, new dual-use AC/USB outlet and an AC-only outlet that can be mixed and matched in numerous combinations to meet customer requirements for simultaneously powering and charging the most demanding devices. This system is installed as original equipment by aircraft manufacturers and as an aftermarket enhancement by owners and operators of business aircraft worldwide.
Astronics AES says its EmPower system is FAA TSO-certified, DO-160 qualified and meets or exceeds all FAA requirements, and that with required safety features designed in, installation is easy, needing only the inverter and outlets to complete the installation.
Astronics AES is a wholly owned subsidiary of Astronics Corporation, a leading provider of advanced technologies for the global aerospace and defense industries. Astronics AES is based in Kirkland, Washington, USA, with worldwide sales and support offices.
